Hi

I need help with  the following issue.

I installed a Feedback module (Version 04.04.01) into a DNN Version 04.04.00 website on the Contact Us page of the following website: http//:www.advminingtech.com.au

In Module Settings I set it up to display with both Subject and Category dropdown menus. All worked OK for 2+ months.

2 months ago emails delivered to the Administrator email address from the feedback form started to arrive with a Subject listed but without the selected Category text included.

I have reset all the settings in the Category Admin menu in the Settings menu but the same problem occurs.

Please advise the best way for us to get this working correctly again.
Many thanks and regards,
Michael

Has anyone ever managed to get an email delivered from the Feedback Module that includes BOTH the user selected SUBJECT AND CATEGORY items?

EXAMPLE?

Found the following in GEMINI (my italics and red ink!).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GEMINI - ISSUES: Using categories in the feedback module

Description
When using the feedback module categories appears to be a mystery to use. Setting up a list in host/lists appears to be illogical as a super user cannot get access to this (basically hosts can only do this). I have never managed to get this to work anyway. Seems to be a lack of documentation here or online help.

Issue has been resolved in 4.4.1 of the feedback module. Categories have been moved to their own table and administrators have access to it - so it's no longer restricted to the host to administer the categories. In the next version there will be enhancements to make the administration of the feedback module to be configurable.

Miket - no one is ignoring direct questions and or emails. With regards to the feedback module, the issue you have cut and paste has been resolved in the 4.4.1 version of the product. There is a bug in the current 4.4.1 version where the subject id is being sent across rather than the subject text itself, however this is not the same as subject not working or categories for that matter.

Categories were setup to be used to manage the feedback that is submitted on the site and as such the categories doesn't get sent across in the email that is generated. However the subject (used in the subject field of the email) is being carried through. I did also post online on the forums on a temporary workaround for the subject id issue that was found after the module was released.

With regards to a newer release for the module, I am waiting for information from some of the core team members before proceeding on submitting the next version for release. I am sure you are well aware that our participation on this community does not mean that we don't have other full time jobs and as such I have to wait till such a time that I can get the information I need from the core team member before proceeding.

Thanks for the response and my apologies for flaming off - I know you too have to make a living in addition to volunteering your time (it is appreciated).

However, I am frustrated as most user's posts or enquiries will come after many hours of attempting to resolve issues on your own, and so when no response is received at all to a plea for help for what is, if not a problem or bug, module functionality that has not been clearly defined, documented or explained at all (see GEMINi POST above)....

Nowhere in the DNN Help, Forums, Blogs or Support Documentation is it made clear that the Category list is merely a database field accessible only to the Host/Administrator (I assume) "somewhere" in a table in the SQL database and that the Category List is not actually a text field that will be included in the notification email text to the Administrator!

Wouldn't it be quick and simple enough to just state this fact in the Online Help for the Module and/or in your Posts?

I look forward to seeing the next module version soon.

SO WHOM DO I TALK TO ABOUT STARTING THE ONE THING THAT MAKES OR BREAKS ALL SOFTWARE (AND WOULD MAKE DNN A REAL SUCCESS & EVERYONE'S LIFE EASIER) - AN EFFECTIVE CURRENT, DOCUMENTATION PROJECT?

Kind regards
Mike

Hi Sanjay,

I hope all is well.

Is there any schedule to fix these problems?  Any guess on when a fix might be released?  Has any one fixed the source who might want to share it?

Thanks,

Chris
