I have read the documentation on moving DNN to a different server by:Erik van Ballegoij

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1293/Default.aspx

That looks very straight forward.  Now my question is that my site is currently using the Source version of the software(4.5.1).  Would it be advisable to try to move the system to the Install package version of the software on the new server?

I did create about 6 custom modules as well in the source package.  I did NOT customize any core module or core code.

Any ideas would be great.

thanks,

Dean

Dean,

Personally from the DNN core perspective there are not all that many differences between the install and the source versions since the DNN solution is not precompiled.  Therefore there isn't much of a need to change anything.

For your modules however you might want to follow a build process to get them compiled into a dll.

That is my 2 cents anyway..
