Hello Erik,

I got exceptions for every installation I made with DNN453.
This is unacceptable. I really don't know what made the exceptions.
I tried to discover but didn't succeed.

If I delete the home page and don't assign another one, the core software has to put a dialog:
Can't delete home page (or something like this).
An exception is not an answer.

There is a bug in your system:
http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=5727
Can't delete default home page after installation/yellow screen of death.
I think this is what I got because it has the same exception as I got.
I saw that this bug was fixed for DNN4.5.4.

Can you tell when DNN454 will be ready?
Who is responsible for the release and what is he doing for the release?
Who test a release?
Where can I see the tests results?
What test cases do you use?
Can I test it?

Nir

Can you tell when DNN454 will be ready? - it will be ready when it is ready
Who is responsible for the release and what is he doing for the release? - Shaun is always responsible for all core releases... trust me, he is doing a lot of work for every release
Who test a release? - Every core team member, project team lead and all platinum benefactors currenly have access to 4.5.4 rc1
Where can I see the tests results? - if you become a platinum benefactor you will be able to see test resutls, and test for yourself as well
What test cases do you use? - we are currently just starting using formal testcases, at the moment only basic cases are formally tested, and on top of that, i would think that every platinum benefactor in fact tests their own use cases
Can I test it? - yes.. if you become platinum benefactor

anyway.. 4.5.4. will be a lot more robust than 4.5.2 / 4.5.3... once 454 went into RC stage, we also went in code freeze, so nothing will be added to the application in this stage, only bug fixes that are new to 4.5.4 (so also no new bugfixes to old bugs that were not fixed in 4.5.4....)

Hello Erik,

Many thanks for your answers. I really appreciate it.

Can you clatify some of the concepts here:
What is platinum benefactors? Where can I read about it?
What does rc1 mean (you added rc1 to 4.5.4 = 4.5.4 rc1)
What is RC stage (once 454 went into RC stage)?

I am very happy that you decided to go into code freeze and nothing will be added.
Writing code is also writing bugs.
After many years of software development... I can tell you a lot about it...

And again, many thanks for your answers.

Nir,

you can read all about the benefactor program here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Programs/BenefactorProgram/tabid/894/Default.aspx

rc1 means release candidate 1. Basically this means that this is the version that will be released, unless any issues are discovered during testing. In the past we used about 2 weeks for testing, although that is in no way a promise for this version!. You can read more about that here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1477/Default.aspx

No, it is not.

It is introducing the possibility of a bug occuring. Nobody "writes" bugs. Bugs are introduced, not written.

Now back to your issue, why would you delete the defualt home page?
