Hi,

I have two questions regarding Portal Templates.

1.) I have a portal template created on server "a" and want to use it for a portal on server "b". So I copied the template file from DotNetNuke\WebSite\Portals\_default\Templates on server "a" and pasted it in the corresponding folder on server "b", when trying to apply the template I keep on getting an error stating that the file I'm trying to use is not a valid template file. Am I missing something? is this even possible to do?

2.) When I create a template, there is a check box that says "include content" however checking this box does not copy all the content of the site. Some of the modules' content is included, like the HTML modules, but most other modules are empty. Does anyone know why and how to fix this?

1. Are both portals using the same DNN version? with the same modules? Can you use the template to create a new site on the Server 'A' DNN install?

2. Not all modules support the exporting of content.  You might be able to write some custom SQL to get this content moved

there was an issue with portal creation in DotNetNuke 4.4.0 - 4.5.1 AFAIR, use 4.5.3

Hi,

I'm using version 4.5.3. and yes, both portals are using the same version of dotnetnuke.

I can create a Portal on server "A" using a template created on server "A", The problem occurs when I copy the template on to server "B" and then try and create a portal, that's when I get the error.

I don't follow your question when you asked if the portals have the same modules? I'm not applying the template to an already existing portal, I'm trying to Create a new portal from scratch using a template.
