Hi,

DNN Content Builder is back. No kidding.

This time its development will not be interrupted since pending issues were finally solved.

I would like to invite people to take part in the RC1 (wow, it took just 2 years from Beta 2 to RC1!).

I cannot offer support, but any comments about the module or problems report will be appreciated.

Please, remember that as any beta software this is not ready for prime time...yet.

You can find DNN ContentBuilder 1.0 (RC1) for DNN 4.5.3 here

Best regards, Emerson

PS: Still free and still open-source. This is nice, isn't?

It would be nice to see screenshots of this free item your offering.  I went to your page expecting to see some instead I got a vague description of what your module does.  I would be happy to take a look at it, but I'm skeptical of loading anything, even on my test sites if there isn't a little more detail provided.

Thanks,

Jerry

If you create an account (doesn't require verification) you will be able to see the extensive user guide and powerpoint. But yeah some screen shots would help...

Hi Emerson,

I just wanted to say - welcome back, and its great news that this module has resurfaced!

Back in 2005, this was a groundbreaking module (maybe it still is), and there was a lot of excitement about it. Then it went underground for lack of someone to take over developing it while you moved jobs.

I encourage everyone to take a look at this module, as there is very little out there that promises to do what this does.

Emerson - has anything changed in the module since you left off at the end of 2005?

Hi,

Content versioning support is being added to the module. It was planned to be released in a major revision, but I realized that a serious CMS cannot live without it. With that kind of support you will be able to edit content without affecting its published version. Another thing is that the module will suport DNN 4/.Net 2.0 only. No DNN 3/.Net 1.1 support.

Nonetheless, I think that the greatest difference of all is that I'm working a few hours per night in that project instead of full time as I was doing back in 2005. Version 1.0 will be ready soon since it was almost done back then, but next version is not expected to be released until next year.

I've updated the powerpoint presentation with information of my vision of a CMS. You will find a new slide called "Big picture" that contains all the stuff that a software should contains in order to be considered a true CMS.

Thanks for the welcome!

Emerson
