I am slowly working towards (I hope) resolving this problem but am getting very little advice or guidance... any suggestions or ideas that can help me towards sorting this asap would be appreciated. (outside help, experiences etc)

Looking at the Languages... I ran the verification and am getting various errors... this is showing for en-US:

Locale:  English (United States) (en-US)

Is there something I can do to sort these? Would/could they be helping towards this problem? There are similiar errors on the other languages but if I can sort the ones above I should be able to sort them all (I would think).

Unfortunately I have found out the SQL Database was not backed up, something I had misunderstood as the database is hosted on a different server. The data all appears to be there and I have started leanring SQL queries, so been able to retrieve information easily enough.

I tried a new & separate setup of DNN (v4.5.3) and all fine, until I tried that DSLocalizator hack... then error so guess that system is just no good with DNN4.5.3. A bit to do but now I am removing all module instances (as it seems to work on pages that had no localisation set) with this, see if I can rescue what is there... unfortunately I am not a programmer or developer at all and help from the Module developer is slow to come (even asked about contracting them to sort it).

See how it goes, but may look at outside help soon as I hadn't wanted to setup the site in the first place but 4 months of being let down by "website developers" in this new business website has left me with little option. DNN has been great though.

You really don't have to run SQL queries to get the info out of your database. There is a microsoft application that I use to backup my databases on a regular basis instead of having the webhost do it. (The backup and restore features are not allowed against the webhost database). The app is called "Database Publishing Wizard" and can be downloaded from Microsoft. It scripts the whole database to an sql file that I use to run against a newly created database in my local copy of Management Studio and there you have your database backed up and information accessible at any time.
