I installed the core forum that comes with the installation, the page runs great until I add the forum module.

I get this error:

A critical error has occurred.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

The portal is in godaddy if this can help.

Thanks,

Erick

Nobody knows the answer to this one?

As you probably figured, your godaddy acct is not obviously connecting the portal application to the database or the forum module being added in and having the correct permissions for the two to talk to each other.

Did you contact godaddy support and get a solution?

I installed on a local machine, and never got this error, except for getting my database connection correct -- but you can test that during install, by hitting TEST CONNECTION. On one machine it was easy to install. On another WinXP Pro machine - it was a total pain in the butt to get the connection right...

I would figure with a godaddy account that would be all done behind the scenes with no pain for you...

David
