HELP! ^_^

My (non - existing - yet) website is hosted by a distant windows-based host. I'm trying for the last two days to install DNN without any success. several things I wanted to ask -

1. what is IIS? should it be installed on the server or on my computer?

2. what does "Server Error in '/' Application." means? (I cannot see the details, even though I've changed "customErrors mode" to be "off")
3. is there anybody there that might guide me through installing DNN via the msn messanger..?

IIS stands for Internet Information Services and the webhost of a windows account will have that already installed. It is the server on which you need to configure your application directory and permissions. Usually all that is required is to copy your installation files to the root directory of your webhost account and make sure the permissions are set properly. Webhosts have a different method of accomplishing this depending on what kind of control panel they are using. Also you need to set up your MSSQL database beforehand.

The error you posted could be almost anything. You're not even getting to the point in your installation for customerrors to be generated. The thing to do would be to start over step by step in the installation process and ensure you have everything set up properly before trying to execute your new site.

I would certainly be willing to give you a hand but I prefer skype if you have that available.

By the way, Noy is a thai name and I was wondering if you were of thai descent - I am currently living in thailand and was just curious.

Your error that says "Server Error in '/' Application" is due to your hosting provider having ASP.NET 1.1 selected when DotNetNuke 4.x requires ASP.NET 2.0

You can tell this by the fact that the error did not go away when you modified the "CustomErrors" setction.

Either you or your hosting provider simply needs to change the ASP.NET version.
