Thanks for the Info!  I do appreciate it!

That is a start.

What is the purpose of installing the site as the default instead of a separate website?

How do i set up my web server to access it from inside my network?  I am currently only able to connect using remote desktop.  I want to access it using HTTP://192.168.0.x/dotnetnuke.

How do i set it up to access it from outside.

Also, how should i set up my host headers?  if i setup as www.mydomain.com host header, how do I set up the admin portal to access it?

Thanks!

if you installed your portal using localhost and want to access it from outside, you need to add the external address as portal alias in DotNetNuke:

  • log in as superuser ("Host")
  • go to Portals in Host Menu
  • Scroll down to the far end, where Portal alias is shown
  • click add portal alias
  • enter "192.168.0.x/dotnetnuke"
  • click save (or upgrade, I am not sitting in front of that screen now)
  • login using the new address and be happy.

First of all : 192.168.0.x can only be used in LAN, it's a private IP adress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network)

For make eatch DDN portal accessible from outside your LAN, eatch must have a different domain name (different HTTP Alias).

For exemple :

www.mydomain.com

admin.mydomain.com

support.mydomain.com

....

portal1.

I am looking at doing a webhosting business (Which is a long term goal) for a very specific market i am looking at, which DNN would perfect for.

The first goal it get my 2 sites up and running, and then look into developing some modules that are specific to the market i am looking at.
