Hi!

I am new to DNN, i tried to set the width of content area of page and any individual module but seems there isnt any option for it...when i add a module and see it on view mode its width is not same and sometimes it expands to the full page width...e.g. when i display the events in Month, Week or List mode the sizes of content area of Events module caries and dose'nt look good...

One more thing! i am continuously  having problems in  installing Forum module and i am getting bulk of Errors...i put this question in Project Discussion portion of Forum Module but no one replied... kindly guide me how to install Forum module from scratch...

Kindly help me in this regard, also guide me if this forum is not for such questions...Thanks,

Regards,

Affan Ahmad Toor

you specify width of pages in the Skin of your size and the Width of module in the container applied per portal, page or module. However, if you apply a table based skin and container, a wide module might force the container to strech and distort the skin of your page.

regarding forums issues, I am sure, the project team will answer, if they understand the description of your issue.

Hi!

Thanks for reply, this means I will have to customize the skin or create a new skin in order to change the width of page...right now I am using a free skin available on net for testing purposes.

Kindly tell me one more thing, i had few doubts about DNN, can you tell me in a generic scenario how many coding is involved in creating a portal? what i figured out is that most of the work can be done by just customizing the modules, we only have to write code if a new module, which is not already available, is to be built or if we want to change the functionality of any module. Is there anything which can not be done by just customization....?

Thanks again...

You need to code, if your demands exceed the implemented options of the framework or modules you use: the framework provide membership management with user profiles and security roles - if you have specific demands for user sync with other apps, or additional options for the registration page you  might need to modify the core code. All functions can be implemented using modules and skin objects - this is the main area for custom developement. visual effects are created using the skinning options, i.e. developing in HTML.
