Hi,

I'm currently using DNN4.5.3, VS2005. I'm need to associate the site name (just a preset string) with a session variable so that a seperate webpage can identify that a user came from my dnn site. My attempts so far have proven unsuccessful.

Currently, I add this to admin\Security\Signin.ascx.vb:

           'Add session variable to store which site the user is on
            Dim siteName As String
            siteName = "testing"
            'siteName = hostSettings("hosttitle")
            siteName = Replace(siteName, " ", "")
            siteName = Replace(siteName, "'", "")
            Session("connectSiteName") = siteName

I'm need this to occur after the user signs in, however it doesn't look like the variable ever gets assigned. What am I doing wrong?

Session depends on site. If you go to another site, the session is not going to carryover there. Pass it in s parameter in the link or If you have access to that other site you can save to databse and recall it there.

You don't need to use sessions as it is valid on just a website (or you can use cookies to check the validity of a user on different subdomains of a domain) but for your current needs you can use the below code on your page to check where the user has come from:

Dim strReferrer As String = Request.UrlReferrer.ToString
