I'm looking to build a custom memebrship provider and am looking for any good references on how to do this.

I'll need access an custom database.

Any references would be great, thanks!

Wow, many days later and no reply.

Maybe I could explain better:

The users intended to login to my DNN site are stored in a database. I need to make it so that the authentication/authroization happens against my database. My common sense tells me that I'll need to write a custom provider. My question is to what?

Does the DNN membership and role provider follow the microsoft standards so that I can write my own and just 'plug it in' or am I way off?

I've looked at the DNN documentation and have found nothing relevant to this subject. If anyone has information on where I could start, please let me know.
