hello,

This is my final straw. I have spent about 20 hours building a simple site with DNN and it is becoming a great challenge to deploy it in production. Putting out one fire after another just to get it to run in a location other than where I developed it is starting to eat away at any benefits I had first imagined when I decided to use DNN rather than code the site from scratch.

The site runs fine if I call it as localhost/myappdir on the production server. When I call it using the domain www.myapp.com it would redirect back to localhost/myappdir. So I have figured out that I need to change the portal alias to something but not sure what. when I change the alias to www.myapp.com I get what appears to be an infinate loop. The site never loads. I only have one portal in my site.

Thanks

If you have added a new alias and the site starts redirecting in a loop then you need to restart the application.
You can make the application restart by making a small modification to web.config and resaving it.

It is looping because because of the old Portal Alias still being in the cache.

Ok that worked like a charm! Thanks...

BUT... Now my gallery module is broke! I installed teh Gallery module version 4.x before I tried to move the site to prod because the older version is very buggy.

If I load my DNN portal using the localhost url the Gallery is fine but if I load it using the domain the gallery module fails to load with errors. If I add a new gallery module to that page while the site is loaded using the domain name the new gallery module loads fine. The problem is that I already set up my Gallery while it was in dev and I do not want ot have to recreate the gallery again.

Why? It has nothing to do with DotNetNuke!
