Greetings Dotnetnuke community,

I am having trouble getting my first installation running. My configuration is XP, IIS, Visual Web Developer, SQL express. Using Visual Web developer I select new website, select DotNetNuke Application Framework and HTTP location. The site creation process starts, then I get the message: (though I'm not sure that this is the issue)

"Configuring web site 'http://localhost/DotNetNuke4' to ASP.NET 2.0 failed. You may need to manually configure this stie for ASP.NET 2.0 in order for your site to run correctly."

After clicking ok to the error message the installation continues, I get the welcome message. Using Ctl-F5 to complete the installation the output shows that the build succeeded. I added network service with full control to the dotnetnuke4 directory. However get  403 forbidden access to the website http://localhost/dotnetnuke4.

There must be a simple newbe blunder in here somewhere. Coud someone shed some light on this?

I was able to resolve two issues to move on to the next hurdle. Here is what I found for anyone else who might run into a similar situation'

1. ASP.NET 2.0 isapis were not configured in IIS. This may have happened due to not having IIS running on this computer until late in the installation process. The solution was to run aspnet_regiis -i which is located in the Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 directory.

2. IIS default documents didn't include Default.aspx (and for other references index.aspx). This is easily resolved using the IIS manager, navigating to web sites > Default website >right click on properties and going to the documents tab.

I am now able to get the DotNetNuke installer to run and subsequently am now peeling back the onion another layer.
