New to module development and have been going through the simple DAL+ tutorials.  The tutorial: http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_Things4Sale/ is very helpful with most everything but I'm confused what to do when my database already exists and I don't have the liberty to add the tables and procedures to the site database.  Is this something I can do with DAL+ or do I need to use plain DAL to do this?

Thanks

Scott

modules always need to add procedures and tables - if this is prohibited, you can not install most of the modules.

Ok, so just so I'm clear.  All the tables and procedures which contain data for the site need to be contained within the dotnetnuke database and cannot be contained within a second business specific database.

module data usually is included within the DotNetNuke database, but you can access external data using your own data access.

You can absolutely have them in a seperate database - just use the relevant connection strings etc in your custom module DALs as you would with a standalone ASP.NET application.
