Hello, I want to convert my ASP .NET 2.0 website to DNN. I have never created a skin for DNN, so I am not sure how to do it. I read the PDF file on creating skins, but it doesn't show how to do it using the starter kit & VS2005. I looked all over Google, but couldn't find anything specific. I tried to wing it, and it errored saying it couldn't find the ascx file(s). I didn't see any in solution explorer either. I am also not sure where to put the images for the skin, either.

If anyone could point me to a tutorial that shows how to do this using the starter kit, that would be great. Hopefully, one that will break it down so it is very simple for me.

Thank you for your help.

Ben

Stop thinking about the starter kit.  There's no difference in a skin whether you use the starter kit or not to create your site.  In VS, you can create either an HTML skin or an ASPX skin, it's really your choice what to do.  Easiest is to start with the DNN default skins and modify them, the code will give you an example of how to do this.  Check the tutorials on www.dnncreative.com and www.skincovered.com to start.

Thanks Jeff, but don't you think there really ought to be some tutorial on Skin template of the starter kit similar to what Shawn (http://forums.asp.net/p/937685/1114393.aspx#1114393) has done for the Module template? Otherwise what's the point in having that template at all.

I'll confess that I'm not really that sure what use the skin template is anyway.  But a tutorial for it wouldn't be different from a tutorial for almost any skin, it's still a skin after all.  The skin template really just gets you a template to start from.  I doubt I'll have time to do a tutorial, but I'm going to start playing with it to see if there's really any use for me.
