Hello there,

I am new to DNN and I'm having problems uploading my skin. I downloaded an exsiting skin which works fine. When I make a couple changes to the skin and re-zip the folder, it uploads but tells me "No Skin Files Exist in This Folder". I am keeping the folder structure the same and just changed the logo and background in the original index.html file.

The next thing I tried was to unzip the downloaded skin (that actually works) and then re-zipped it without making any changes at all. I ended up getting the same error. I unzipped the folder again (the one I had just re-zipped and uploaded) and the file structure was the same.

I used stuffit to zip the folder. Is there something with this program that is causing me problems?

Thanks,

Kurt

Try zipping the contents of the folder, not the folder itself.

Thank you I was struggling with the very same thing. I now have my first (albeit very ugly) homemade skin loaded.

I'm having the same issue after downloading a skin (XDFuseMe) and replacing the pix folder images such as the banner and footer with my customized color scheme and design.

Do I zip the "XDFMpix" folder entirely or am I zipping the wrong stuff?

Also you state that you don't zip the folder itself. Am I not supposed to extract all files first before replacing the images?

How do I upload the skin if the folder itself is not zipped? Maybe I'm making this more difficult than it should be...any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are many possibilities to pack a skin.

Generally, the zip file: "skinname.zip" contains two zip files. One with the name: "skins.zip" and one zipfile with the name: "containers.zip".

In the skins.zip there are skin variants with names like: main.aspx or admin.aspx and a skin.css file. If you use html skinning there are: main.html, main.xml, admin.html and admin.xml and skin.css. instead of skin.css one could also use the skinvariant name.

Containers work the same way: container1.ascx and container2.ascx and container.css or container1.html, etc. also see the skinning documentation (zipfile on the download page)
