Hi all -

So, ever since I installed DotNetNuke - I have been getting occassional and random Blue Screen Windows Page Fault errors. Usually, it is when I am opening an .ASCX file from the Skins directory from within my DNN directory into Visual Studio 2005 Trial. So, if I grab and open the main skin ASCX file for the layout... it will sometimes crash fast with a Page Fault. Sometimes I have Firefox open with DNN and sometimes not. This issue will happen pretty randomly, though I could probably make it happen pretty often if I closed and reopened the ASCX page template files quite often...

Is there something I am doing that I shouldn't?

What's the deal? Never have I experienced this with any other framework or even anything with ASP.NET or Visual Studio?

thx - otherwise DNN is pretty darn neato...

David

What is worse is that as I was installing the Announcements module, it did this random Page Fault crash.

Now, I go to start my portal in the browser and it gives an ASP.NET error, So what do I do now to rollback this thing or can I??

Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.SQLDataProvider' or one of its dependencies. The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))

Even weirder is that I moved the BIN files associated to Announcements out of the BIN folder, tried to start portal, same error, except it pointed at Forums... so, I put those BIN files back and took all bin files related to Forums out temporarily, and the Portal started up. However, Forums doesnt work cause of the BIN files not being in place. So, do I uninstall and reinstall the Forums module? I dont have much data in the Forums but I do want to preserve the structure...

Morale is - don't let your computer crash to strange PAGE FAULT issues which never happened ever until I started messing with DNN.

Is there any help docs or books on this type of site admin and disaster recovery for DNN or is there anything built in to DNN? If not - that stuff is a must to build to make this enterprise-class..

Thx, its still super neato..

David
