Hi

Ive setup DNN to investigate. The portal alias is driving me cracked...

I set it up friday and it worked lovely, was able to login no hassle. I then reloaded it this week and it keeps redirecting me to localhost/dnn (where its setup)

I setup a few tests pages with a forum and survey etc and i can navigate to them (not logged in). But attempting to click on certain links brings me back to localhost/dnn. The annoying thing is this happens when i click on login or register, meaning I can't login to change settings.

Any ideas....  Its the latest version too by the way

Thanks

I take it the server is not at localhost/dnn?

What I normally do in this case is just add a portalAlias to where the site is, and it does alright finding it.  Remember to reload the web page through IIS or changing the web.config so it takes the change.

Hi

Just to further clarify whats happening now that Ive been looking at it a bit longer. It is at localhost/dnn, but its not really the portal alias thats the problem. Ive setup a few different test sites now and the same thing keeps happening.
Its version 4.5.3 and I have a feeling its to do with a flaw in the login box.

When I first setup the site I can login in fine. If I logout then and attempt to log back in, clicking on the register or login links on the homepage simple redirects back to the home page. I know I can force the login box to appear by adding ?ctl=login to the end of the querystring but its not a suitable workaround for other users.

Clearing cookies and cache makes no difference as I thought a cookie might have been causing the site to think I was already logged in somehow.

I notice the code inside admin/security/signin.ascx.vb contains a lot of logic involving redirecting and Im just wondering has a flaw crept into this version.

Hopefully someone can help with this. Has anyone else found the same thing, and a solution...

Thanks...

Hi

Found my own 'solution' to this problem. I replaced version 4.5.3 of signin.ascx with version 4.4.1 and now I can login everytime. This confirms my suspician that theres something wrong with version 4.5.3 of signin.ascx.

If its not a bug, theres flawed logic in there somewhere.
