i need a skin that is colorful, trendy and vibrant. i don't need it to be business-like as it's intended for a teenage community. any recommendation?

I go straight to a design firm, and then convert their designs into a skin myself.

But maybe that's just me :D

Or send your ideas to a skin designer and get a custom skin.  :)

Basically, Snowcovered.com is the sales location for DNN modules and skins.  Yes, the quality is variable and no, you can't easily find anything on the site.  What works for me is to find a skin in the same "feeling" as what I'm looking for and then look at the skin designer's site for similar alternatives.  For the type of design mentioned, you might look at Salaro's work, or maybe Evan O'Neill's.  You might also want to look into AJAX controls/modules if you're appealing to the Web 2.0 crowd.

Check out templatemonster.com - they have all sorts of designs. And convert it to a skin.

Also, while Evan's and his partners skins are very good and we used them in a number of sites, they are very business-like.

Check out an awesome designer Tyler Fawcett DotNetNuke Skins

Might look at fatbirdstudio.com as well if you're doing a custom skin.  They advertise here and have some more cutting edge stuff.
