Here is what I got from the hosting provider:
The maximum virtual memory for the worker process has been set to 196MB.
Following my request they have created an application pool solely for my domain.
They have set the recycling of the worker process to be done once in 1740 minutes.
Nevertheless my application continues to shutdown within less than a minute and they claim that my application must be failing, because the worker process might have exceeded the resource limit and got recycled.
Is there a way to debug what might be chewing so much memory that the application is recycling?
I am not sure if this is related, but I noticed that sometimes I get the following 4 event logs:

I'm gettiing the same start/stop event errors for my 4.5.3 portal. This is an upgrade from 4.4.1 and I host my own site. I started with a clean install of Win 2003/IIS 6 and SQL Express 2005. I have made no config changes to IIS and did not see this error unitl after upgrading to 4.5.3. The errors are generated every few minutes for a set period of time and then the log is clean for awhile and then the sequence repeats itself. What should I be looking for or troubleshooting?

Paul,
I would look for comparisions between the frequent shutdowns and potentially high load on your site as well as any other relations to other processes on the server.

Well. I got the hosting support team to admit that the Hot-fix mentioned in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920970 is not installed. Somehow the server was backed out all the way to ASP.NET release 2.0.50727.0.
(See the following thread for the details on why it is needed: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/45826/scope/posts/Default.aspx)
Stubbornly they refuse to load it and go even further in saying that their shared servers are not optimized for using the caching features in asp.net 2.0, and advise me to use a dedicated server.
So if any of you considers a shared hosting for a DNN application do not opt for Lunarpages.
