Is there any way I can restrict who sees the login button?

I need to be able to limit the people who can see the login button somehow so people who shouldn't be messing with the site don't see the mysterious Login button and decide to have a fiddel.

Probably the best solution is to be able to make the login button visible to beople with an IP adress within the range of  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy but anything's better than nothing
