Hi to all, i develop my own module, but now i want to encrypt or hash the output of the aspx file. For what? to prevent when users made a right click on the web page and select "View Source" cant see the code. Anyone has experience on this?

Thanks a lot

Sebastian

I am not familiar with a method of doing this, and personally I am not 100% sure that it is possible as the browser must know how to render the content.

I know you can add some javascript to prevent the use of the right-click to get the view source option.

This has been a topic of conversation for as long as I've been a web developer (longer than I'd like to admit)

There are a lot of techniques out there that provide some basic protection, and you can deter the casual user from viewing your source by adding thousands of carriage returns above your actual code (view source looks like it's blank but it's really at the bottom of a very long scroll in notepad) or using javascript to either disable right-click or encrypt the text.

Ultimately, though, if someone wants to view your source, they can.  The question is... do your really care?  The real ip of your code is in your vb file which is compiled.  Far fewer people will go through the trouble to access your dll and decompile it to get to the full source.

I think Jim Cheshire sums it up best and like they say... "where there's a will...."

That said, using a product like AntsSoft HTML Protector will prevent most people from viewing your source.  But I would challenge you to think about if you really care about html source so much.  In most cases (considering you've compiled your module), it's just not necessary.

You have a very good looking of this. And the answer is yes, in the html may be show some sensitive information that i want to hide. So I will try the software you tell me. If you any other idea i will appreciate that. I need to encrypt, hide, etc the source

Thanks

Sebastian
