I did see that post at the time - Its part of the reason I took my time to upgrade to the 4.5.n versions
The skin object utilitiy would be incredibly beneficial - I personally would consider it to be a vital part of any CMS system designed to be used by "normal" users - and have been trying to make time to develop some of the long list of add ons I have come up with in my 12 months of looking at DNN - often I see that Shaun and the core team are obviously one step ahead of people lik myself and often see the feature I have though of looking into being implemented - The installer being a prime example
I have seen numerous comments from the past stating that many people see DNN as being for techie developers - some of which I agree with others - having a technical background myself I can understand.
But saying this Shaun's blog does leave a number of pretty importants points unexplained:
1) Why has a piece of code providing functionality that is a fairly standard requirement contravene the Terms of Service of Google? Has DNN spoken to Google and possibly produced some sort of exemption to the clause that states code should not be changed?
2) Why has it been implemented in such a way as to effectively "pilfer" less informed users Google generated revenue?
3)Why has this not been clearly documented anywhere?
4)Where is the option to select the web search provider ( the blog mentioned states that the resource file does allow for MSN search to be used) and set up the other options - surely the whole principal of a robust CMS is making it as flexible and configurable as possible.
Unfortunately I have had a number of serious distractions limiting my time at the keyboard over the last few months - time does indeed fly!!
