I just tried to upgrade from 2.0.1 to 4.5.5, there were about 5 failed sql scripts, but i fixed them manually.

After that when I try to access any website - it just goes to log-in page on that website. if i try to log-in - it goes back to log-in. in URL i can see message "object reference not set"

Maybe upgrade from 2.x is not supported? Seems like major problems is that it does not populate dbo.Folders properly and I guess it does not populate security tables...

I usually suggest to upgrade in steps going from 2.0.1 to 2.1.2, 3.2.3, 3.3.7 and in a last step to version 4.5.x

Yes. Upgraded to 3.2.2 - few problems - but at least portals are accessible.

Seems like every new build of DNN brings bugs...and the only way for upgrade to work is to upgrade incrementally on they way fixing all the issues that upgrade created... crap...

smaller upgrades are frequently used by a number of users and are tested , while the core team does not have resources to test upgrades from each previous versions starting with 1.0.0 - this is the reason for smaller upgrades to perform with less issues. be aware, however, that any issue listed during an upgrade might result in problems on later upgrades and shall therefore be investigated carefully before upgrading to the next version.
