I have read the previous posts about not being able to view files in version 4.5.3, but I couldn't understand the solution. The only folder I can see in my file manage is root and the images that are under the root. I have no other visible folder. I have trying synchronizing both regular and recursive and I have pressed refresh several times. I have logged out and back in several times also.

Another question: I can access my files through Dreamweaver. Can I not edit through there? I am trying to get my search bar to completely go away and I read a post to go into the <root>/admin/skins/Search.ascx.vb file and change these values:

Private _showSite As Boolean = True
Private _showWeb As Boolean = True

Change them to look like this:

Private _showSite As Boolean = False
Private _showWeb As Boolean = False

I did that and saved the file, but it made no changes. I refreshed the file manager, still nothing. Then I logged out and back in and still nothing. Any ideas?

Regarding the file manager, have a look in the db at the files and folders tables and check for duplicate entries that might be causing you difficulties.

For the changes to the values on the search.ascx.vb file, I believe that might be a cached page.  Try restarting the application to see if the changes take, you should be able to use any editor that you desire to make the changes.

I haven't created any files why would there be duplicate ones? Is this a bug in the software?

As far as it being a cached page, I don't know if it is. I have completely deleted all internet history, restarted the program and my computer. Is there another place I am missing in order to delete the entire search box and options? Can I just delete the files associated with search or will that completely mess something up?

Please dumb your answers down - all you guys are much smarter than me on this software - I am so new that I don't always completely understand what you are trying to say.

Thanks!

No problem.

First of all, for the files that are not showing up.  DO you have them all placed in the /Portals/0/ folder (the 0 might be different if you have more than 1 portal).

Regarding the visibiltiy of the changes you completed for the search.  Can you re-open the file and were you changes still there?

When I go into Dreamweaver this is what I see: All my DNN files are under a folder called dealers. The address would be www.rugged-cctv.com/dealers
Our main website is www.rugged-cctv.com, the dealers section is just going to be accessed from our existing home page by a link, only for specific users that know where to go. We only have one portal. When I installed this plug-in from Webhost4Life, I just had to specify what folder I wanted it to go under (/dealers) and the host did the rest of the installation on its own. The host said to not put it under the root because it would mess up my existing web site.

When I re-opened the file after saving, Yes, my changes that were made are there.
