Just a thougth -

As well as above suggestions, I find a lot of new skinners, zip up the skin folder so this is what they upload to the portal

myskin.zip

______myskin

____________skin.html

____________skin.css

____________skin.xml

____________imagesfolder

Basically the skin will only be properly parsed if the content of the myskin is zipped rather than the folder being zipped.

Sounds very basic but it happens,

Salaro is right, and that's the way XP's Zip works.  You need one Zip file, myskin.zip.  Open that and you should have no folders, just the files.  (Okay, you can have folders, but when you get to the point where you understand how to use the subfolders, you will understand the skin structure well enough to use them, so don't have folders to start)
