I have a HUGE requirement to implement tags (i.e., "tag cloud") in the Blog Module (much like the ASP.Net forums do for their posts).  However, I know that this is something that is in the long-term road map for this module.  I also can see that the "tags" could prove useful for some implementations of an entire DNN portal instance.

Does anyone know if the core team has any plans of implementing a "tag cloud" solution into the DNN core?

Also, can anyone give me their guidance and/or advice on implementing this into the Blog Module?

There has been discussion about this already, so i would expect to see it added a a service in the core that a number of modules will then leverage - i have not yet seen any design documentation or prototypes of it, so it's definately a few versions off - i'd reckon youre looking at 3-6 months at least.

Scott Schecter built a cool little mod: Nebulosity

It is not particularly for the blog module, but it might get you close or give you some ideas...

Tag clouds are very easy to do with the ActiveDB modules - I was going to build them into the Smart-Thinker modules but there is no point now as I can make one for any datasource in a few minutes. For example, check out the Find a Poker League or Poker Group category pages. I explained how I did it on the ST forums. I would not bother putting it into any one module...
