Hello everyone.   I have been a happy DNN “user” since version 1.0, but I have been somewhat disconnected for nearly a year due to other personal matters. I am now trying to get myself up to date again.

I have had a DNN Modules Listing on one of my sites for a long time, and I am finally in the process of updating it. I know there are other link listings out there for DNN modules, but since I still get a good flow of traffic from people searching for modules, I decided to improve on the list instead of dumping it.  I believe that I have made it very simple now for anyone to add links to custom modules, without needing to register on another portal.

I created a very simple form that can be submitted, to add modules to the list, by just entering a title, short description, developer’s name, and links to where to obtain the module, a link to the developer’s site, and to classify if it is Free or for Purchase.  That is about all.   The form posts the entry to a database pending approval.  I will review any entries daily, to make sure they are truly DNN module links, then approve with a click of a button.

If you would like to add module links to this listing, please feel free to do so.  I do not think I could have made it any simpler, and if it helps send more traffic to developers building modules, it has served a good cause.  I am in the process of removing the dead links too.

This listing had been maintained manually in a database table, but it was very difficult for me to add or update links since I still struggle with SQL, and I am not a developer.  However, I am now using a forms module which really made it easy for me, and it also allowed me to put up a form so others could add links.   The forms module I use now is H2O by Onyaktech DNN Solutions.   It allowed me to quickly make a form that directly connected to the database, and provided for the desired functions.  I am sure I have not tapped all the potential of this tool, but for a non-developer, this was terrific and simple.  I have built several forms with it recently, but just a few are for public use, such as for my modules listing.   To display the module listing, I have been using Advanced Data Grid (one of my long time favorites), and it allows for sorting and search.  I also us the Aggregator module so there are tabs separating DNN2, DNN3 and DNN4 module listings.

On this page, you will see an image link on the left for “submit module” that takes you to the form for adding more links.   No registration necessary!

Thank you,
TMM
