I first updated a portal from 4.5.4 to 4.5.5 and got this error when I goto admin - sitesettings - Apperance - next to logo and banner i get this: You don't have permission to see the files on the site. I have checked that (running windows server 2003, .net 2.x) network service has full permissions. I have tried to log in both as host and admin .. same problem.

I did a clean installation (4.5.5)  and got the same problem ...

All other DNN-sites on this server works fine.

Any good ideas?

Come on guys... someone must know the fix for this! Why should it take so long to get ans answer or at the very least a response? This is a major bug and we need a fix. Clearly since te above member is having e problem in 4.5.5 upgrading my portall from 4.5.3 is not going to fix this. Please someone help us out on this problem!

I ended up deleting the portal i was going to update and made another "clean install" incl. new database and it worked right away.

I have also last night created 3 new portals incl 3 new databases and updated one portal from 4.5.3 to 4.5.5 and it is working OK.

Soooo I dont know what to say ... looks like a local problem here and not a 4.5.5 problem !!

Glad to hear you got your problem fixed, but I don't  think at least I can use this as a viable fix as I have many production sites running on this install. I surely hope someone on the project team is looking at this because it is not just an annoyance, it is removing a great deal of the functionality of the app. Anyway else have any odea what is going on here. I cannot delete my portal and start over. Any comments are appreciated.

it's actually not a real "bug", the message is warning you that your user does not have permissions to a file. It's not the asp.net permissions it means, it's the dotnetnuke permissions (dnn supports 3 file permission levels, see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/404/Default.aspx for more details).  However, normally host/admin users automatically have all the necessary permissions, so somethings gone wrong - i've seen some 3rd party modules cause issues before, as well as some old core issues with orphan records in the files/folders tables [note:this is why a new install is working fine]. I would recommend that you go to the admin->file manager menu item and assign the rights for your user (i.e. admin/superuser groups), that should resolve it - you should also apply the permissions recursively.
