Hello all,

I'd like to tweek my dotnetnuke 4.05.01 installation to be faster.  I have about 250+ pages. Most of these are IFrames which point to html files. The reason for using IFrames is that the HTML files were generated from our Product Catalog which is in Excel.  My website uses some flash and javascript.  I am on a shared hosting plan with web.com. I am considering moving to gate.com in the future which seems to be a little faster. Logging isn't very important and database space is limited.  Any ideas to speed things up?

The following modules are installed:

[Skin Objects], Account Login, Blog, MGMBugreport(my custom module), DnnSiteMap (Custom Module by Rainer Halanek), Documents, Events, Forum, Help, IFrame,  Repository, Repository Dashboard, Search Input, Search Results, Text/HTML, User Account

These are my Performance Settings:

With IFrames aren't you basically loading one page, then loading another, I would think that might cause some of a slowdown?

I'd also turn off Enable Module Online Help, and Auto-sync file system if you are really concerned about performance.

I'm only using IFrames for our online catalog. I wrote a vb.net program to convert our catalog from excel to html. It then automatically sends those file by ftp to the wbserver in place of the old files.  When we make a change to the catalog we run this program and the website is the up to date.  I guess I could use an Text/HTML module and update it in the database.  I will change Enable Module Online Help and Auto-sync file system to off.  What does the Auto-sync file system option do?

Thanks,

Sean

Will removing unused skins, containers, and extra files under the portals directory help with speed?

I would also change page state persistence to actually be page....yes the page will be a bit bigger, but I have had quite a few problems with keeping state in memory, resulting in errors or high memory usage.
