I noticed the issue on a fresh install of DNN.  The site worked for about 48 hours, and without any major modifications, stopped one morning.  I stumbled upon this fix via Google, and thank God I did!

Is this something that people have noticed you have to do a lot?  Or is it a one time inconvenience?

I started having this very same problem this afternoon. The odd thing is that I changed nothing on my site/server when this appears to have begun happening and it only seems to be happening on one of my computers. Another one with Firefox works just fine...for now.

  • SprintMogul.net is running DotNetNuke 04.05.03
  • The site seems to work fine from IE
  • The site seems to work fine when not logged in
  • The menu does NOT display when logged in as a normal user in firefox
  • The menu does NOT display when logged in as an administrator with the "view" radio button selected
  • The menu seems to work fine when logged in as an administrator wit the "edit" radio button selected
  • This very thread seemed to display oddly (no gray background behind posts and no reply button) in firefox
  • This very thread seemed to display fine in IE
  • I have another site (BikerEvents.net) which is running DotNetNuke 04.05.05 and is having similar issues.
  • A third site (GoogleMobilePhone.net) is running DNN 04.05.05 and is does NOT seem to be having these issues.
  • All of these sites have the Ventrian friendly URL modification (http://www.ventrian.com/Resources/Projects/FriendlyUrls.aspx)
  • The only non-core module that is installed on both problem portals is Private Messages 01.06.06
  • Both problem portals only started having issues this afternoon
