I am confuse that how to start new website or portal in dnn. i make and parse the skin successfully and also parse the template successfully. but still i am confused that how i will start the website to develope. like i also have to make other website in the same dnn environment. so how i will manage all the sites. either i have to login by other username and password or while stying login as default host or admin i can start working on new webiste. I am confused.

First install DotNetNuke on your web server (see installation guide, available at Resources >> Documentation here on dotnetnuke.om), and you will get automatically installed the first web site, which you can adopt and extend to suit your needs.

To add a second site, simply log in as superuser "Host" and go to Portals in Host menu. Here you can click add and enter portal details.

To desgn your portal, you can buy or develop a custom skin, check out the skinning guide for details.

Dear leupold,

Thanks for your instant reply. but as a metter of fact i already have done all these things, the confusion falls when i login with host user/pass it goes to dnn default website instead of going to my newly created website. I was affraid that i might not doing well so its better to ask any expert. I was in this state of mind that when i will create the new website after that i will login to it by the new username and password. is it like this or not?

So every time i have to go to portal and apply the skin to newly constructed website and start it again. this is the problem.

my second question was that my first page is different from the rest so do i have to make other layout for the rest of pages. for example my first page contain alot of new/articles links and after clicking them it goes to new page, kindly let me know about this either.

thanks for your reply in advance.

1. make sure, the address for the second site is correctly entered as portal alias - to check this, login as host user and go to portals in host menu. select the affected portal and check the portal alias at the bottom.

2. you can apply a different skin per page in page settings.
