Dear All,

I have created a website using DotNetNuke on Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.

From the browser on the server that hosts the site, using IP Address I can access the default page. But when I click on the 'Login' or 'Register' button, the following error is thrown:

HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

My guess is that it is not NTFS permission issue, rather it is IIS permission issue. Using IIS Manager I checked the the Folders under the website root folder have 'Script and Executables' permission.

I have checked the web, MSDN etc, but to no avail.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

All,

That issue, I figured it out. The machine had another website using the default IP address of the server. So, I used the same IP address and a different port number for this DotNetNuke site. So, when accessing the login page, the port number was stripped from the address. So, the page could not be found. If I manually add the port number to the address of the page, it worked.

Now I have added another IP address to the server, and using that IP address for this DotNetNuke site. Now I am getting the following error when trying to access the site:

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
Internet Explorer

but I can see the image:  images/bottom.gif using the new IP address.

So, the IP address is OK, but something is prohibiting the pages to be displayed.

Any suggestion will be appreciated. I have NTFS permission checked, and all the folders of the site have script and Executable permission.

I had a similar problem and i had to allow the Network Service account to have write permissions to the DNN folder.  I modified the permissions outside of IIS.  That cleared up the 403 error for me.

The 403 error continued however when i tried to access the site via a URL defined by our network group.  It is really strange; when I browse to the server via an IP address everything works fine and when I browse to the server via the URL I get the 403.

I hope my initial suggestion helps.

I figured out what the problem was. 

I had our network admin add an alias to our URL for testing purposes.  That name did not have an entry in the PortalAlias table so I think DNN lost its way after IIS directed port 80 traffic to Default.aspx.  Once I added the record in the PortalAlias table and recycled IIS the problem vanished.

I am also getting the 403 denied error.  I do have network services with full access. It says I need to login first.  I see no login screen; on the 403 error page. How do I login?
