Any suggestions as to how I could get the page to scroll down in a module?

When I click save on a grid the I would like the page to scroll down just in case a validation error is displayed below. Otherwise a user could miss the error message.

I had a similiar situation and got this to work ==>

  1. Insert an anchor anywhere in your module's .ascx file depending on where you want to go
    i.e. <a name="#SMC_TOP"></a>
  2. Include the following in your .vb file:

#Region "PreRender"
Private Sub Page_PreRender(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As system.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.PreRender

            Dim scriptbuilder As New StringBuilder
            scriptbuilder.Length = 0
            scriptbuilder.Append("<script language=""JavaScript"">")
            scriptbuilder.Append("window.location.hash=""#SMC_TOP"";")
            scriptbuilder.Append("</SCRIPT>" & vbNewLine)

            ' Inject Client-Side Script...
            If (Not Me.Page.IsClientScriptBlockRegistered("phdClientScript001")) Then
                Me.Page.RegisterClientScriptBlock("phdClientScript001", scriptbuilder.ToString)
            End If

        End Sub

#End Region

Thanks for this Doug. I tried it without success. Viewing source I can see that the script is injected into the page and the anchor is there but the page does not scroll down.

I wonder does Ajax upset this?

Doug,

Unfortunately I cannot get your code to work in either FF or IE.

Creating a test html page does not  work either, for me. However if I add <body onload=" window.location.hash='#section1'; void 0;"> to the test html page it works.

The question is how do I inject this into the page when my module loads?

Basically what I need to achieve is for a form to scroll down when a section is updated such that the bottom of the page is always visible.
