Hi,

Does anyone know if there has been some behind the scene progress? The release tracker is last updated 10 days ago. Is this because the core is busy with the upcomming DNN 4.6 or because some issues surfaced for the forum module and it has to re-enter the release tracker once more?

I would appreciate if someone could provide us with some inside info.

Thanks,

Marc

I wondering too...

It's has been delayed for months. The team say that this version is a big change (asp 1.1 to asp 2.0) so... you need to wait. There are important users arround DNN that gave up to the 'new' forum module...just try to do a search on this forum. I am keep using the current forum module, but I do not know if I can hold of forever. The current version has A LOT OF BUGS, and I fixed the most important ones, but...did not work OK with avatars, images, files/documents, notifications, etc.

Crispy has been working hard a lot, but I cannot understand why he is not pushing the process to get done. It is really necesary a 'good' version of the forum.

MHuijbregts, Back to march, when was planning to release the Forum Module (v4.4.0), there was arroung the release process of the DotNetNule v4.5.0., some thought but I was wrong, the 'new version of DNN" was out, and the forum module team just promote a new uncomming version...

The new version of the forum module IS very close to be released. However, has been 'very' close since february 2007, I think there is a strategic decision behind us that keep this version not to the public yet...

Alfonso

The forum module never had to undergo a formal release process in previous releases. This has added steps and other resources to the project which were not necessary before. While the addition of these items are for the overall good, it does slow down the process. As I went through the process it seemed the resoruces got tied up and I kept on working and submitting new packages. As any developer knows, the longer it takes to release the more people are expecting from the release. With 6 months of betas and me working to ensure bugs were corrected and all necessary features added, I think most people will be pleasantly surprised with what the final product is.

I just submitted 4.4.3 to the release tracker and passed it to the stage it was at before for 4.4.2. Hopefully I can get together with Scott W this week for a trial dnn.com upgrade (which I have done locally already) and then we can get them on here. My guess is that the module will release in around two weeks from now. I am done working on the module and don't see any 'show stoppers' coming up that require me to submit a new package. Regardless, I am certain the package going through the release process is 10x better than what exists today so I feel confident it will release.
