I am experiencing a problem with the email functions of my DNN 4.5.1 installation.

I have configured the SMTP settings properly in the Host Settings, and I get a SMTP Test email sent when I test the settings.  But for some reason, the email notifications are not being sent out like they should when users sign up or I add roles to their accounts.  Any suggestions on where to look to fix this?

I am unable to send emails through Dotnetnuke, even though my SMTP settings are correct and the test email goes through.  Anyone willing to point me in the right direction as to where to look to fix this problem?  The emails had been working normally, but something happened about a month ago and since then I haven't been able to get any email notifications (such as when a new user signs up, or adding roles to a user.  Please, any suggestions or help would be breatly appreciated!  Thanks!

What do you have the authentication set to?

Here is how I configure SMTP:

SMTP Server: Mail.SomeServer.com
SMTP Authentication:  ( ) Anonymous    (x) Basic    ( ) NTLM
SMTP Enable SSL: [ ]
SMTP Username: SomeAccount@SomeServer.com
SMTP Password: Some Password

NOTE: If your SMTP server does not allow anonymous transactions (and it really should not all since that make you an open relay), you will have to check one of the other options and supply a valid username and password.

If the test email goes through fine, then most likely your problem is not in DNN.  The most common cause of what you describe is a spam filter quarrantining or deleting the emails.
