Hi everyone.

I noticed that the eventlog table consumes a lot of space over the time. How do I purge it ?

When trying to open the Event Viewer page I get a timeout error. The same happens if I try to directly delete the content of the database using a DELETE command (even by setting the timeout to 10 minutes!)

Once the table is purged (which is hopefully possible) I would like to be able to setup a max amount of entries. Is this possible ?

Thanks in advance for any hint, Tom.

login as superuser ("host"), go to SQL in Host menu and enter

TRUNCATE TABLE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}EventLog

to limit the size, activate the purgeEventlog job in scheduler and set appropriate Limit in Host settings

I'm kind of new at DNN so could you please describe in more detail how to do the things mentioned above ?

When I go to the host->schedule page I have "PurgeUsersOnline", "PurgeSiteLog" and "PurgeLogBuffer" but I cann't see any "PurgeEventlog" job there. Do I need to add it myself and if so what's the correct syntax (I don't know what to fill in when pressing "add item to schedule).

Also, I've looked through the host->host settings page and cannot find any place to set a limit for sitelog and/or eventlog size. Please explain where this setting can be found as I have several portals and I dont want my database to grow too much.

Hi Sebastion,

thanks for that hint, but that doesn't work either. Still running into the timeout.

Don't know if it is a connected problem or not, but over the last weeks my site besomes solwer and slower so that I already get lots of dnn/.net timeout errors when surfing the site.

I get the strange feeling that something seems to wrong with my EventLog table, as I am not able to purge it. Unfortunately I don't have RDP access to the webserver as it's based at my hoster and I only have PLESK for config purposes.

Does the EventLog table have any links to other tables so I get contraints when trying to delete something ?

Any other ideas anybody ?

Regards, Tom.

It most definately is the EventLog table that gives my page trouble. Just got the following error when simply trying to restart it via the host settings page.

Unhandled Error

Error Details

File

The error message says that there is not enough memory for the dbo.dnn_EbentLog.PK_EventLogMaster object because the file group "primary" is full.

How the hell do I get rid of this when purging the table doesn't work ?
