Well, it would seem that when an event such as this is going to happen, it would make sense for the folks responsible to use the Forums to announce that fact in the Site Update forum.  I mean what's the purpopse of having Project Blogs, and the Site Updates Forum group, if no one is going to use them to communicate what's happening with the site and the framework.

When we dogfood or upgrade, we give out user community notice.  Just seems to be a professional way to handle such events.
