Hi everybody,
Is it possible to take the back up of the database created in Sql Server 2000 and restoring it to a new database in the Sql Server 2005 in the DB server?

i have created a website with dnn 3.2.1 version with database Sql server 2000 in the local network. now i want to deploy my site.

the method i have been following for deploying the site is:
1) ftp the root folder content to the ftp alloted.
2) taking the back up of the database
3) creating a new database in the database server.
4) restoring the database.
5) changing the connection string with the new server name, db name, username, pwd. in the web.config file.

i was successful in this. but now the Sql Server installed in the DB server is not Sql server 2000. Earlier both were Sql Server 2000.
Its now Sql Server 2005 in the DB Server where i want to deploy.
so can i restore it there? or i need Sql Server 2000, since the database in the local system its Sql Server 2000.

I personally upgraded my sql server to 2005 and then noticed there was a compatability option in sql2005 which i used and worked fine.  I'n not sure if the sql server on upgrade upgraded and db structure.  After a while i then changed the compatability option to sql 2005 and had no ill affects that i can remember.  Easiest thing is backup before trying.
