Attempted to install the upgrade on three three sites.  Have two specific problems:

1. After overlaying the upgrade files received this error:  Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.RequestFilter.HttpModule' from assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression'. (e:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config line 52).  This was on two local host installations.

2. Nothing.  Upgrade scripts didn't get kicked off as in upgrades in the past.  The site is running normally, however it never triggered the install script.  I first checked to see that the web.config would allow automatic upgrades -> add key="AutoUpgrade" value="true"

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Mike

Mike,

For the first one, be sure that ALL files copied successfully. then ensure that the DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.dll file exists in the bin directory.

For the second one, try manually triggering the upgrade by going to http://www.yoursite.com/Install/install.aspx

Also, you might have a look at my site at http://www.mitchelsellers.com as I have a detailed upgrade guide there..

I've examined the bin directory for the file mentioned above.  I found it in the bin directory, I'll play around with this a bit more.  Its a local installation so it isn't that dramatic if it doesn't work.

I tried the manual installation www.mydomain.com/install/install.aspx with no luck - the page came up blank.  The page comes up blank.  I examined the directory to see if the aspx file is present.  When I used .../Install/InstallWizard.aspx the page returned that I already had 4.5.3 Installed?  I checked the files in the directories to ensure that I all the files got copied...well the creation date was consistent with the date/time that I copied them up to the site.  I then recopied the files to the target site via FTP and restarted the application - still no luck.  If you'd like to poke around be my guest - I am stuck.

I'll look around your site before retiring for the evening.

Thanks for the quick feedback, I appreciate it.

A good way to see if the upgrade actually happened is to see if you have any entires for 4.5.5 in the "Version" table.

Hello I had the same issue applying the 4.5.5 upgrade.

I compared another installation of DNN (4.3.7?) and that line was not in the web.config.   I commented it out, and it continued with the upgrade, and eventually the home page came up.

I don't know if there will be other issues because of it, and I will recompare the files to make sure everything copied, but this is the 2nd item I had to doctor to get the 4.5.5 upgrade to run properly.  Hopefully the last.  Thank you for posting your question.  It seems like the next release may want to take care of it, and the missing files from the Forum Gallery.  But DNN still rocks!
