Hi all,

A recently bought skin is behaving weirdly after uploading. When i chose the skin i liked it gave me the following error: "Cannot create an object of type 'System.Boolean' from its string representation 'False' for the 'ShowSite' property." This error message is comming from the ascx file i chose.

After looking in the ascx file i found out that showsite property for the new search option actually had a '' instead of a '=' around the false statement. In the same line this was also the case with the Showweb property. The weirdest part (for me ) was when i found out that in the actual source which i uploaded to DNN 4.5.5 it was all correct (no signs in there).

I manually corrected the file in my DNN installation and had no problems after this anymore but i'm wondering why this occured in the first place.  It doesn't look like a problem with the skin since it was allright in the ascx which i uploaded. Could it have have got something todo with the parsing of the skin package?

Thanks in advance,

Marc

Marc

Bad editor.  Somewhere along the line, a double quote was replaced by a left double quote and a right double quote.  The low ASCII double quote looks like two straight line marks, the left/right double quote pair is the "prettier" curved double quotes.  Many programs replace these, notable word processors like Microsoft Word.  But even Microsoft's Expression Web has an annoying habit of changing these.  A reason all editing should be done with a decent code editor and not a wrod processor.
