Thanks for the reply and code. 

I thought that PageBlaster might be the answer, but I was unsure of the exact coding required, so I had already created a post in your forum, which I will now update.

I just thought of something else, you'll also have to go into Google webmaster tools and request that the bad Url be removed from their index.  Otherwise it may be a long time before it gets removed.
