The DotNetNuke Starter Kit 4.0.2  does not show up in the "My Templates" of the "New Web Site" window of VWD (An icon titled "DotNetNuke Web App..." per the documentation on page 31.)

I am wondering if there is a limit to the number of "New Web Site" templates that can be added and show up in the "My Templates". I have installed previously eight (8) starter kits and ASP.NET Site templates. With the "Search online templates... icon, that makes nine evenly spread icons in the "My Templates" section of the "New Web Site" window of VWD. All installed correctly except the DotNetNuke.

The DotNetNuke seemed to install seemlessly as documented.

This all leads to another question. How does one uninstall the Starter Kits? I thought I would uninstall several including the DotNetNuke and then try reinstalling the DotNetNuke just in case eight is the limit.

The other eight starter kits and ASP.NET templates all work. If I recall, I only have to add the ASPNET machine account to the App_Data folder and give it proper to make the Web Applications funtion with IIS 6. I also have to convert the root folder to a web application enabled virtual directory. For simplicity I have created the starter kits in a sub folder of wwwroot. I recall having to run a SQL script to create a database on one starter kit - if I recall, it was the additional Personal Web Site Starter Kit now in the "My Templates" as well as the "Visual Studio Installed Templates".

I have tried to install DotNetNuke more than once, sometime allowing it to overwrite the four files and other times preventing it.

Check the language - If the language is C# in the Add New Website dialog, then you won't see DotNetNuke, as it only comes in VB.

This caught me out a few times too.

Thanks cnurse.

That was it!!!  I set it to C# on first run and its been there ever since, and I didn't realize I had to toggle it to VB to see the VB templates. It makes sense now. The eBay Starter kit is there too which I had forgotten all about.

Thanks,

Rich

OK, cnurse, one of the qeustions asked by richshunter wasn't answered.

How does one UNINSTALL the the Starter Kit.

I've installed it, and now VS2005 locks up whenever I choose a new project or website. Thus, I am able to do ZERO work until I uninstall the Starter Kit.

Is there a link I am missing that clues one in on how to uninstall the Starter Kit?

THx

I know it was forever ago that this was posted, but I had the same problem.  When I found the solution, I thought I'd share:

Here is a blog on how to do it.

I was using VS2008 and the 5.0 Starter Kit.  I found .zip files and when I removed them they no longer appeared in the Create Project dialog.  Had to do it for both VB and C#.
