I was expecting the module to be named differently than Text/HTML so that in my module drop-down list in the Control Panel.

Can you explain that. The text/HTML module is one thing and the editor provider is another... I am a bit confused

Mauricio,

I fear, it is difficult for non-developers, to distinguish between the Editor and the Text/HTML module, that - on first sight - seems to consist of it only.

For all users, who want to get this clear:

  • DotNetNuke is extensible - end user funtions as added as installable modules and base functions are implemented using providers, that are configured in web.config.
  • The HTML WYSIWYG editor is integrated using a "provider" (called "HTMLTextProvider" )using an interface, provided by DotNetNuke
  • FCKEditor is integrated using Locopon's great implementation of the HTMLTextProvider provider and is used by all modules, that call the HTMLText provider - e.g. the Forums, but Blog, UDT, WiKi etc. as well
  • The Text/HTML module is a simple module used to offer a "Rich Text" option for DotNetNuke page content, using the HTMLText provider. It is bundled with the DotNetNuke installation but can easily be replaced by more enhanced modules like MLHTML (multilingual) from www.Apollo-software.nl, MultiPage from www.dotnetnuke.dk or MagicContent from www.portalfabrik.net
