The upgrade tells me it was successful, but I get an error when I load the portal

Then I ger the error

An error has occurred.

Any Ideas how to resolve the error???

try to restart application by doing a minor modification in web.config and saving it. if this does not help, you need to update desktopmodules, setting supportedfeatures to 0 where it is set to -1
