Hi All,

I'm working with DNN 455 and have encountered a problem.

When a page editor drops a TXT/HTML module into their page, the "Edit Text" option is missing from both the bottom of the module and from the Module Action Menu.  The user must first go to Settings (still available from both the bottom of the module or the Module Actions Menu) and give himself permission to edit the module.   The "Edit Text" option then appears.  All other modules inherit the edit permissions from the page.  This seems to only occur with the TXT/HTML module.

Has anyone else encountered this and is there a fix?

Thanks!
Kelly

Kelly,

Are you sure that when they are dropping the module on the page that they have the dropdown list selected to inherit permissions.

Hi Mitchel,

Thanks for responding!  I reported the issue on the Issue Tracker and they've determined that it's a problem with the module caching setting.  If you are interested, you can view the issue on Gemini here.

Thanks again for taking the time to help!
Kelly

They've withdrawn the posting on Gemini since it has been confirmed to be a caching issue; however there was no resolution to the caching issue.

When an Administrator adds a Text/HTML module, the module caching is set to zero and the "Edit Text" option is visible.  When a user with page edit permissions adds a Text/HTML module, the caching is set to 1200 and the "Edit Text" option isn't visible.

The user still has to get into the module settings to fix the problem, does anyone know of a permanent solution?

Thanks again,
Kelly

The issue will be further investigated and we will report the status.
