Okay so here is my issue - I really like DNN and spent a lot of time
working on a website for a friend.

Here is the problem.

If you go to www.domain/dotnetnuke - no problem - can login and see
site and make changes, etc...

However I wanted to make so you can just type www.domain.com and have
it show what I built for him. I added an alias for the site that
points to domain.com and restarted DNN, but everytime you go to that
website I get the standard hosting "website is coming soon" screen.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or perhaps I'm not doing something
correctly.

Everything is installed and hosted at godaddy.com

Any help is greatly appreciated
-Matt

Okay, I ended up fixing it by adding a redirecting line to my welcome.html page for www.domain.com and redirecting it to www.domain.com/dotnetnuke

I'm still not sure why the adding the alias didn't work, but I'm happy now.

While your solution works, the most likely reason your first try didn't pan out was because you didn't actually point www.domain.com to the root folder of DNN.

The best way to fix this is to simply MOVE DNN from the DotNetNuke folder to the root of the domain.
