Dear All

Maybe I have just missed this in my trawl of the forums but what is the recommended way of sending out a custom email from the code behind of a control in a bespoke module in DNN v4.5.3?  Should I do this the same way I would do in a normal .Net application or is there a DNN API to help manage the creation and dispatch of emails?

I have looked at: -

• DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail

• DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.SendBulkEmail

  but these seem designed to send DNN-system-type emails like registration notification not to allow me to construct and send an email of my own?

  The functionality is required for a "recommend a friend" control, the visitor enters the friend's email address and an email needs to get generated and sent to them through the SMTP set up for my DNN.

In fact the DotNetNuke.Common.SendMail method has been replaced by DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail, but the latter can be overloaded to send custom emails and not just the DNN-standard type emails as I first thought.
