i am using the repository with the articles template.  i have many categories.  i would like to see the module automatically alphabetize my category list.  it is a pain trying to re-organize the categories through the repository settings.  unless someone can tell me how to do this through the db?.....

thanks

I have a couple of other items I would like to suggest for the next version:

1)  Repository items stored as blobs in SQL database would be great!

2)  An item to go along with the aging of the items that expire, would be to have an archive repository that items that have expired could be moved to upon the date they expire.

3)  On the repository image it would be nice to be able to hover over and have the picture expand similar to what you see on the buy.com website, good chance it could be done with ajax similar to the animation sample on the ajax site http://ajax.asp.net/ajaxtoolkit/Animation/Animation.aspx

4)  Limit a user to only be able to rate an archive item once, and display their rating along with the average rating when they are logged in.

5)  Track comment count and rating count per user as well as submitted and approved repository items.

6)  Have a seperate submit control for a user and admin.  For example our admins have to add a lot of custom content that our users don't need to see on their submit control.

Thank you, great module, keep up the good work!

I'd love to use this module - it has a lot going for it.  Some very significant short-comings make it a "non-starter" for my applications:
  1. The ability to link to an existing file system:
The current system is fine for public repositories where users are uploading one file at a time, or if you are starting a web-site from scratch.  However, if you have to upload all the files at once, or if files already exist then you can't use this module - it's simply not practical.
  2. The ability to link to a repository resource in not currently possible:
The only way to access something inside the Repository Module is through the Repository Module!  This means that I can't create a link in another page, in an html/text module, a link module, etc. For some applications this precludes it from use.  IMHO, we need to be able to uniquely access individual items in the Repository.
Less significant issues...
  1. Items uploaded through the Repository Module are not available in a friendly matter to other areas of a site:
The renaming convention (I believe for security reasons?) should be optional.  In secure environments (ie: a trusted memberships in an intranet), this becomes a real problem.  I don't want "My Manual" renamed to "My Manual 3d3d41cf-3390-4be1-819d-a32a9a5050f7.pdf   Files may need to be available from other areas of the site and users will be confused when they download it in that state.
  2. Images for the Repository have to be uploaded with each upload - rather than linked to an existing image:
This might be fine if your repository is essentially images, but I don't believe folks are using it this way - why not use an Image Gallery for this instead?  Images should be allowed to be linked to existing resources.
Please take into account my first statement as you read my criticisms -  I really want to use it.  If I've misunderstood or mis-represented anything, my apologies and look forward to corrections/clarifications.

I'm also curious on what the status is for this project... will there be some updates coming soon?

Cheers!

Hi,
Just wanted to say I love this module and believe it is one of the best on the market.

Is there an update on the release timeline?

Do you use Oracle?  Then try GoldFish.Net

Get it from CNET Download.com!

As of today, Tue 3/27/07 Here's what's left to accomplish before the new build can be released...

First, Mike found a problem with the upgrade logic for sub-category support. I need to walk though the upgrade script to see why it's not working and fix that

Gemini issues/enhancement status:
http://support.dotnetnuke.com/project/RoadMap.aspx?PROJID=22

The following items remain outstanding and are not yet fixed
End User Functions Bug REP-4207 Repository >Steve Fabian Assigned
End User Functions Bug REP-5002 Search for multiple words does not work >Steve Fabian Assigned
Admin Functions / Settings Enhancement REP-2502 Use Images As Download Links >Steve Fabian Assigned

So, 3 items left to fix, about 7 or so items for Mike and Barton to test and the upgrade script needs to be fixed.

Once those items are done, then 3.01.12 can be released into the DotNetNuke Release Process which takes from 5 to 12 days. Once it passes through the Release Process, it will be released to everyone.
